Review of The Fabulist

3/30/2011

Thoughtful review of The Fabulist, where I had three stories published. Turns out I know this reviewer, the very thoughtful and talented writer Olga Zilberbourg.

Dates for Late Spring/Early Summer workshops set

3/27/2011

Please check out the dates for the next six-week sessions of the North Bay Writers Group Workshop. These are my favorite teaching experiences of all I do. They're small (limited to eight per session) so intimate and allow for individual attention. Students or workshoppers are engaged and passionate, and their work is developing astoundingly --especially those that have kept up with the sessions, participating time and again. I love the camaraderie I see take root and grow among participants, how it serves as a good, weighty counterbalance to the necessary solitude of the writer.

Wait lists exist for each of the sessions -- Monday nights and Thursday afternoons -- but don't let that deter you from getting in touch if you have an interest in trying out one of these workshops. Sometimes people on the wait list wind up not being able to attend after all, so you never know.

New issue of Prick of the Spindle out

3/22/2011

The new issue of Prick of the Spindle, Vol. 5.1, is live & online. As incoming fiction editor, I had a little to do with this issue.

This is especially fun: Writer Round-Up A Collective Interview Wherein Writers We Like Discuss Topics Related to the Craft. Including the following: Matt Bell, Paula Bomer, Steve Himmer, Lee Papa, Ethel Rohan, D. Harlan Wilson, & Joseph Young.

Fiction editor at Prick of the Spindle

3/5/2011

I'm excited to have accepted a position as fiction editor at one of my favorite lit journals Prick of the Spindle.

Prick of the Spindle is a literary journal that is open to forms in both traditional and experimental modes, with a special bent toward fresh and innovative voices using language in unique ways.

Please send your best fiction.

A new story published at The Fabulist

3/3/2011

A little magical realism? "Jamie's Dragon" is available at The Fabulist.
"Jamie saved up her babysitting money for the tattoo. It hadn’t taken long, her dad liberal with his guilt money. He paid her well to handle his responsibilities — Jamie’s twin half-brothers — while he wined and dined his new wife..."

My third piece there since the new year -- I've really enjoyed working with Josh Wilson, the editor. Thanks, Josh.
